Terms of service
Last updated
Draft: pending legal review. This document has not been reviewed by a solicitor and contains unfilled placeholders. Do not publish it as-is.
These terms are the agreement between you and [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] covering your use of YarnHub. By creating an account you accept them.
Your account
You need an account to use YarnHub. You must be at least [AGE] years old. Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account, and you should tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to it.
Give us an email address that reaches you. We use it for password resets and important service notices.
Your content
Your stash, your projects, your photographs, and your posts remain yours. We claim no ownership of them.
You do grant us a limited licence to store, copy, and display your content for the purpose of operating the service: syncing it between your devices, backing it up, and showing your community posts to other users. That licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies retained in backups for the period described in the privacy policy.
Patterns and copyright
You can upload pattern PDFs to your own projects for your personal use. Doing so does not make them public, and other users cannot see them.
You must have the right to upload what you upload. Do not upload patterns you do not own or have not licensed, and do not use YarnHub to distribute copyrighted patterns to other people. Designers make their living this way.
If you believe content on YarnHub infringes your copyright, contact us at [COPYRIGHT CONTACT EMAIL] with enough detail to identify the work and the material in question, and we will investigate.
Contributions to the catalogue
The global yarn catalogue is a shared resource maintained collaboratively by users. When you add or correct a catalogue entry, you agree that the entry may remain in the catalogue and be used by other users, including after you close your account. Catalogue entries describe commercially available products; they are factual records rather than personal or creative content.
Acceptable use
Do not use YarnHub to:
- Break the law, or help anyone else do so.
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other users, or post content that is hateful or designed to intimidate.
- Post sexually explicit material, or content depicting graphic violence.
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation.
- Upload malware, attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems, or interfere with the service for others.
- Scrape or bulk-extract the catalogue or community content by automated means without our written permission.
- Spam other users, or use the community feed primarily to advertise.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that breach these rules. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why.
Service availability
We work to keep YarnHub running, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features. If we discontinue the service altogether, we will give you reasonable notice and a way to export your data.
Ending the agreement
You can close your account at any time fromProfile → Account → Delete account, or by emailing us. We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these terms.
Disclaimers
YarnHub is provided as-is. Craft reference information in the app and on this website, meaning yarn weight equivalents, needle and hook conversions, and calculator results, is provided in good faith as guidance. Manufacturers vary and conversions are approximate. Always swatch for gauge. We are not liable for a project that does not come out the size you wanted.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, our total liability to you is limited to [AMOUNT OR FORMULA].
If you are a consumer, you have statutory rights that these terms do not affect.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If the changes are material we will notify you in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use YarnHub after that means you accept the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of [JURISDICTION], and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
